Monseigneur Joseph Charbonneau
Un mythe s'est imposé à la suite de la démission surprise et inexpliquée de l'archevêque de Montréal en 1950 : l'intervention du premier ministre Maurice Duplessis. Toutefois, une recherche patiente dans les archives, l'interview de personnes proches de l'archevêque et la consultation d'une correspondance échangée entre 1928 et 1959, ont révélé que ce n'est pas la prise de position de l'archevêque en faveur des familles des grévistes, - une position partagée par tous les évêques du Québec, - qui a été le motif de son départ. L'affaire Charbonneau n'est pas une affaire politique, mais une affaire cléricale. Révélatrice de la perte d'unanimité de la société québécoise qui a été touché progressivement toutes les couches sociales au milieu du XXe siècle, elle témoigne de l'impuissance d'une mentalité fermée qui devait s'ouvrir sous peine de perdre toute pertinence. D'un chapitre à l'autre, on verra les acteurs affirmer leurs convictions et permettre de discerner les étapes d'un drame jusqu'ici non élucidé.

The Rabouin Family, a Genealogical Study
The Rabouin/Raboin family of Canada and the United States. The earliest known ancestor was Michel Rabouin (b. 1702). He married Geneviéve Banhiac/LaMontagne in 1736. Michel owned land bordering the Maskinongé River, in Maskinongé by 1736. Family members migrated from St-Guillaume and other areas of Quebec, Canada to New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Wisconsin and California. Some families have changed Rabouin name into Robbins and Roberts.
