Things from the Flood

'Gorgeously creepy and strangely human' - National Public Radio It started on Christmas Day in 1994. Dark water suddenly rose from the land, invading our homes and lives. They say it came from the depths inside the Loop. Whatever it was the Flood changed everything. Nothing would ever be the same again. Simon Stalenhag takes us to an extraordinary world, a world of fear and discovery, in a story told through his gut-punchingly spare narrative and lush illustrations. Stories told in both words and haunting illustrations, THINGS FROM THE FLOOD captures a not-too-distant reality that is both haunting and imminent: addressing the many ways developing technology and nature can create havoc and wo...

Political conflicts on Earth erupt into open hostilities between their colonies in space, with Xenomorphs as the ultimate weapon. Political tensions boil over on Earth, spreading to the outer fringes of known space as the UK colony of New Albion breaks with the Three World Empire. When an oil-drilling facility on nearby LV-187 is destroyed, its French colonists slaughtered, the British are blamed. Military forces arrive from the Independent Core Systems and combat erupts. Trapped in the middle are Cher Hunt and Chad Mclaren. Cher is trying to find out who was responsible for the death of her sister, Shy Hunt (of McAllen Integrations from Alien: Into Charybdis). At the same time Mclaren, accompanied by the synthetic known as Davis, follows in the footsteps of his late wife, Amanda Ripley, seeking to stop the weaponization of Xenomorphs. When a horde of the deadly aliens overwhelms both groups, however, their only hope may lie with Royal Marine Corps unit known as "God's Hammer."

The Lion, the Dove, & the Lamb, Revised Edition

How might the formal Christian doctrine of the Trinity make a real concrete difference in the lives of individuals and in the life of the church? This book proposes there are two parts to answering this important but elusive question. In the first place, how on earth did the Early Church actually reach its conclusions about this understanding of God, and why? What’s the real point behind their endeavors? How might we apprehend what is otherwise sheer mystification—or even nonsense in some people’s minds? Arising out of the answers to such questions, we can secondly construct an appropriately simple model of the Trinity. By means of this model, we can understand with sufficient justice the ways the triune God has come among us in our human history, ways that are still ongoing today. For the proposed model allows us to begin to appreciate the true mystery of the Christian Faith, while also making a practical difference to the lives of Christian discipleship, in prayer, worship, and mission.
