Ecosystem and Cultural Services
This book describes cases and experiences in connection with environmental and cultural ecosystem services in Argentina. It contributes to the debate in connection with different approaches to analyse ecosystem services, focusing on the environment, the Law and social perspectives and concerns. Among the topics discussed are the implementation of the National Forests Act, the regulation and recognition of ecosystem services, the role of indigenous people, the policies in place for nature and forest conservation in different regions of Argentina. This book is one of the few research studies about cultural ecosystem services developed in Latin America and presents an attractive combination of the legal, environmental and social approaches and was written by an interdisciplinary team of academics who have theoretical and practical experience in this region where there is a valuable natural and cultural heritage.
Water Provision and Corruption
Water is essential for life and its access is being affected by insufficient investments, contamination, and climate change worldwide. This book analyses corruption practices in water management and services in Argentina and a selection of case studies from other countries in South America. One of the main objectives of this manuscript was to carry out a study of the cases of concessions and nationalizations that cover two geographical areas; the City of Buenos Aires and 17 Counties of the Province of Buenos Aires and 15 cities of the Province of Santa Fe, in Argentina. The text analyses different theoretical and empirical experiences and combines academic, social and technical approaches. It concentrates on two fundamental aspects merged in its study: the provision of a public service such as water and corruption. These were analysed from the legal field, using heuristic tools that are not commonly used in the discipline. This multi-theoretical approach can be of interest of academics, professors and general public.

Estudio de impacto ambiental en la siembra de soja en la Argentina
El presente libro constituye un plan integral para la implementacion de actividades agricolas, a traves de la produccion de soja en la region "Pampa Humeda," en la Republica Argentina. Es importante destacar que tanto las caracteristicas fisicas de la zona, los beneficios economicos obtenidos, y las necesidades de producir alimentos para el mundo, influyen para que la produccion aumente fuertemente cada ano. En el sentido, se analizaran los impactos ambientales, sociales, y economicos, a traves de la implementacion de un Estudio de Impacto Ambiental, focalizandose especialmente con el area juridica. Sin embargo, es importante destacar que existe gran cantidad de normativa vigente vinculada con la evaluacion de impacto ambiental, al igual que diversa legislacion ambiental protectora del medio ambiente en general o de los recursos naturales en particular, que se relacionan de manera directa o indirecta con las presentes actividades. Luego, se realizara una comparacion entre la normativa de Argentina y de Espana, al igual que con los instrumentos fundamentales de derecho ambiental internacional.
