This collection provides a well-rounded view of organizational conflict in three broad categories: ways of thinking about organizational conflict, individual processes, and interaction processes. It enriches the positivistic literature on conflict and organizations with a focus on non-reductionistic views of conflict, individual and interactive processes of conflict, conflict management (as opposed to resolution), and the constructive nature of conflict—aiming at understanding rather than prescription. Recounting the history of the study of organizational conflict, the book presents alternative views to the traditional positivistic approach and the traditional assumption that conflict is destructive. Rather, conflict is seen as a naturally-occurring human phenomenon, which may manifest itself on different levels with negative or positive outcomes. The book also focuses on the individual, showing how predisposition or skills impact on conflict in the organization, and vice versa. It also examines conflict interaction processes and their reciprocal influence on individuals, the organization, and/or the environment.
This edited volume presents selected papers focusing on Ronald Fisher’s cumulative contributions to understanding destructive intergroup conflicts from a social-psychological perspective, and to the development and assessment of small group, interactive methods for resolving them. Highlights include schematic models of third party consultations, intergroup conflicts, and a contingency approach to third party intervention. Overall, the selected texts offer a comprehensive description and clear rationale for interactive conflict resolution and its unique contributions to peacemaking.

This book is my Ph.D dissertation on two epochal political upheavals, known in Korea as the April 19 Student Revolution of 1960 and the May 16 Military Coup d’etat of l961. The comparative analysis of their causes and processes and their respective impacts on Korean political and economic development was the central focus of this study. It was written in 1970. Korea’s political miracle such as liberty, democracy, and unity of our nation took fertile root from the April Student Revolution, as its economic miracle of rapid modernization and industrialization gained momentum from the May Military Coup. Ultimately, however, our people’s sweats, tears and sacrifices are behind these two “miracles”.
