Comercio exterior en Colombia: política, instituciones, costos y resultados
Este libro presenta los resultados de un esfuerzo conjunto del Banco de la República, la Universidad del Rosario y del Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina (CAF). Busca reflexionar sobre los obstáculos al crecimiento del comercio exterior de bienes y a la diversificación de las exportaciones colombianas de bienes distintos al café y los mineroenergéticos. Dos indicadores revelan el pobre desempeño del comercio exterior colombiano: el valor exportado e importado de bienes y servicios ha permanecido relativamente estable alrededor del 35% del producto interno bruto (PIB) y la canasta exportadora consiste principalmente en bienes tradicionales, inicialmente el café, y en los últimos veinte años los bienes mineroenergéticos. Si se compara el desempeño exportador de Colombia con el de países como Corea del Sur y Chile, resulta todavía más evidente el pobre desempeño del país en materia de exportaciones agrícolas e industriales, lo que obliga a preguntar cuáles son las razones de ese resultado.
