A guide to the analysis and design of compliant offshore structures that highlights a new generation of platforms Offshore Compliant Platforms provides an authoritative guideto the analysis and design of compliant offshore structures and puts the focus on a new generation of platforms such as: triceratops, Buoyant Leg Storage and Regasification platforms. Whilst the authors – noted experts on the topic – include basic information on the conceptual development of conventional platforms, the book presents detailed descriptions of the design and development of new deep-water platforms. The book describes the preliminary design of triceratops in ultra-deep waters and presents a detailed anal...
This book provides a solid understanding of how Digital Platforms and Services need to handle Privacy in today's world. It includes implementing Privacy & GDPR regulations for complex digital web applications and not just simple websites. Book covers a checklist of items your digital platform needs to cover in order to address privacy concerns of your users and lawmakers.
Offshore Semi-Submersible Platform Engineering presents a primer on the analysis and design of semi-submersible platforms, in particular, while also covering general analysis and design guidelines of offshore compliant platforms. It introduces general structural designs and also examines the details of the various environmental impacts that act upon them, such as fatigue, fire, collisions, and water waves. Features Provides thorough coverage of the dynamic analysis and design of semi-submersible platforms Assists readers through detailed analysis methods using MATLAB® as well as other computer programs used to carry out structural analysis Explains impact loading and dynamic response throug...
A three dimensional finite element analysis is developed which is capable of simulating the coupled static and dynamic behavior of compliant ocean structures. Nonlinearities which result from large-deflection, reduced or zero stiffness in compression, and the nonconservative fluid loading are considered. The spatial variation of fluid loading is also addressed. The structures are assumed to be in the Morison flow regime. Linear wave theory is used and multidirectional seas may be simulated. A current profile which varies in magnitude and direction with depth may be specified. Concentrated masses and loads as well as foundation properties may also be modelled. The problem is formulated in upd...
Compliant Offshore Structures deals with some aspects of the mechanics of compliant offshore structures. Analysis methods for determining the hydrostatic and hydrodynamic behavior, at wave frequencies only, of conventional and novel compliant structure types are described. The contribution of hull configuration for tandem hull vessels and of pneumatic compliances for ship shape and semi-submersible vessels is also emphasized. Comprised of 11 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the various conventional and emerging methods of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic analysis that are available for characterizing compliant marine structures. The response of compliant structures to ocean waves i...
A research agenda for collaborative networks Purpose. Many practical application experiments and pilot cases nowadays provide evidence on what works and what still remains as a challenge for collaborative networked organizations (CNOs). The fast evolution of the information and communication technologies and in particular the so-called Internet technologies, also represents an important motivator for the emergence of new forms of collaboration. However, most efforts in this area are highly fragmented, considering only some partial facets and not a holistic perspective that would be required. We are therefore at a point in which it is necessary to define much more consolidated and sustainable...
This book introduces major agent platforms, frameworks, systems, tools, and applications. Each system is described by their developers in sufficient detail so that the reader can get a good understanding of the architecture, functionality, and application areas of the system. All systems are running systems. One main focus of the book lies on agent platforms and toolkits.
