El libro Caminos alternativos ante la precarización laboral y la marginación social aborda el deterioro financiero desde las nuevas relaciones entre el trabajo y el capital, pues en el fondo es necesario analizarlo desde la perspectiva de la economía política, es decir, desde el análisis de cómo interactúan las fuerzas antagónicas en un proceso, no solo de generación de riqueza, sino de permanencia y ejercicio del poder a nivel social, cuyo fin se centra y se perpetúa en la acumulación de capital, es decir, que en el proceso de precarización social, encontramos una arquitectura institucional que legitima la vulnerabilidad derivado del deterioro en las condiciones de trabajo; así la contratación temporal o a tiempo parcial modifica la jornada de trabajo para ajustarla a las condiciones tecnológicas de los procesos productivos, mediante trabajo por hora o a tiempo parcial; la caída salarial, pérdida de los ingresos por trabajo y, la desprotección social, son solo ejemplos de la reducción y eliminación de los derechos laborales que generan marginación social.

Cuando apenas hay avances en la consolidación teórico-metodológica de los estudios sobre periodismo, surgen nuevas manifestaciones marcadas por dos fenómenos que -paradójicamente- sí son constantes: el dinamismo de la profesión, y las interminables crisis, lo que genera cuestionamientos que alcanzan desde el concepto mismo del periodismo, hasta las dificultades en sus condiciones de producción.
