To connoisseurs of fine automobiles the name Delage uniquely combines performance and elegance, symbolising luxury and the fine French taste that is summed up in the simple phrase ?La Belle Voiture Française? ? ?The most beautiful French car?. This long awaited book ? the first comprehensive history of Delage ever published in the English language ? reveals that such a reputation is only achieved by unrelenting enthusiasm and effort. -- ?Keep it simple, make it strong,? was the guiding principle of Louis Delâge when he founded the company bearing his name in 1905. Surrounding himself with a gifted team of associates, he rapidly gained the commanding heights of the French motor industry, simultaneously triumphing in the leading concours d?elegance and on the race tracks of the world. When the financial crisis of the 1930s arrested its meteoric progress, the Delage marque continued to flourish under the sheltering wing of Delahaye, and survived honourably for a further twenty years, outliving most of its competitors.

Genes de Large

This book was written in diary form to chronicle events during our annual stay at Chandalar Lake in the Brooks Range. Myself and two friends built a cabin on the lake shore in 1991. My wife and I spend one month there during the short arctic autumn each year. It's our piece of tranquility played out in a cabin by a lake on the tundra. The following is a sample diary entry. September 13 Low cloud cover, calm all day, thirty-eight degrees in the a.m. It was fifty-six degrees in the p.m. The snow has stayed back maintaining a hold only on the tops of the highest mountains. It waits patiently for its ultimate advance. In the meantime we have the arctic version of an Indian Summer and we love it....

Starring... John Dillinger

Everyone's out to get him. When he hits it big on the silver screen, will it make him immortal... or a bigger target? Chicago, 1934. John Dillinger is weary of life as an outlaw. So when the FBI surrounds him at the Biograph Theater, the notorious thief surprises everyone and surrenders. And desperate to prove to the world he's gone straight, he makes a newsreel film from prison encouraging youngsters not to choose crime. John Dillinger in front of a camera proves as deadly as a Thompson submachine gun. Handsome and charismatic, Dillinger lights up the screen, and his little newsreel catapults him to stardom. Pardoned due to the success of the picture, Dillinger finds himself deep in the cut...

A Clockwork Orange

One of Esquire's 50 Best Sci-Fi Books of All Time “A brilliant novel.… [A] savage satire on the distortions of the single and collective minds.”—New York Times In Anthony Burgess’s influential nightmare vision of the future, where the criminals take over after dark, the story is told by the central character, Alex, a teen who talks in a fantastically inventive slang that evocatively renders his and his friends’ intense reaction against their society. Dazzling and transgressive, A Clockwork Orange is a frightening fable about good and evil and the meaning of human freedom. This edition includes the controversial last chapter not published in the first edition, and Burgess’s introduction, “A Clockwork Orange Resucked.”
