Las avenidas torrenciales son fenómenos naturales súbitos y altamente destructivos que han generado grandes pérdidas económicas, humanas y de infraestructura en nuestro país, por lo que debe establecerse como una prioridad la adecuada planificación territorial y gestión del riesgo ante estos eventos. Este libro resultado del proyecto de investigación CAPMAPIE012019 titulado “Planteamiento de una metodología integral para la evaluación de amenaza por avenidas torrenciales a escala de cuenca en Colombia”, pretende dar orientaciones teóricas y metodológicas desde el entendimiento de las características de estos fenómenos naturales, el análisis geoespacial y la modelación del recurso hídrico para abordar adecuadamente la gestión del riesgo por avenidas torrenciales.
