En juvelerare rånas på Arlanda. Det går nästan obemärkt förbi. Varken media eller polisen verkar bry sig. De enda som är upprörda är juvelerarens grannar. De säger att han har blivit skuggad i veckor. Några år senare köper Ulla Trenter ett antal gamla klänningar, som tillhört en godsfru, på auktion och förvånas över hur tung en av klänningarna är. Någonting är insytt i fållen — och det är inte någon tyngd som ska hindra kjolen från att blåsa upp — det är sexton diamanter… Vem har äganderätten till ett dyrbart förvärv som inhandlats i god tro? Och kan några av diamanterna ha tillhört den juvelerare som blev rånad flera år tidigare? ULLA TRENTER [1936–2019] var en av Sveriges mest framstående deckarförfattare. Hennes författarbana inleddes efter maken Stieg Trenters bortgång då Ulla slutförde Stiegs påbörjade deckare Rosenkavaljeren. Hon skrev därefter ett stort antal kriminalromaner, många av dem med fotografen Harry Friberg och kriminalaren Vesper Johnson som huvudfigurer. Ulla Trenter var även medlem i Svenska Deckarakademin och verksam som översättare.
