Reverie of Gods

If emancipation is essential for a child's independence, why do we hold on to our heavenly parents, our gods, even when drawing our last breath? Nothing is left to faith in a world where Man can converse with the gods through prayer. And even when their existence is undeniable, Leander Rainsborough remains uninterested in the divine. Caught in a series of sudden tragedies and mysterious encounters, Leander is taken from his life of miserable exile and trapped in a vast and complex web of lies, corruption, and death. Leander will not only discover his own capacity for love and faith, but also the disturbing secrets behind the creation of his world, and the beings who control it. Intricate in plot, complex in theme, and epic in scope, REVERIE OF GODS is a stand-alone fantasy and science fiction novel that explores Man's relationship with God through an exciting globe-trotting adventure.

There is no higher honor for students at the prestigious medical school than to be personally selected by Professor Arthur Sterling Law to participate in his weekly ethics seminar. Only the best and the brightest are considered. Only the best of these are chosen. Each patient presented at the seminar poses an ethical dilemma, and the fiercest debates center on the question of prolonging life, particularly the cost of prolonging the life of a desperately ill patient. Can the cost be justified, or should expensive, potentially lifesaving medical care simply be withdrawn? And there is one group of especially brilliant, especially privileged, especially arrogant students who invariably argue for pulling the plug. If it were within their power, a very real patient would die. But surely medical students do not possess such power…. As the number of suspicious deaths increases, others cling to innocent explanations, but senior medical student Mac McCall cannot ignore his own doubts. He risks his career—and ultimately his life—as he pursues a trail of sexual intrigue and death to solve the mystery of the ever-rising Mortality Rate.

Sea lice are one of the most important and costly health issues for Atlantic salmon aquaculture and for culture of many other marine fish species. In addition, the extent and causes of impacts of sea lice upon wild salmonids has proven a hotly debated issue and one that continues to affect public perceptions of aquaculture. It is 29 years since the last dedicated book on sea lice biology and management, Pathogens of Wild and Farmed Fish: Sea Lice (Boxshall and Defaye, 1993), and a volume of current perspectives is overdue. The current book updates knowledge concerning the biology and management of sea lice, authored by over 60 world-leading researchers, practitioners and industry experts, wr...

The Frontier Mission and Social Transformation in Western Honduras deals with the interaction between Mercedarian missionaries and the indigenous Lenca Indian population of western Honduras during the early sixteenth to mid-eighteenth centuries. Using an anthropological perspective, it relies heavily on previously neglected ecclesiastical archival material in conjunction with preliminary archaeological evidence as an integral source of data. A fine-grained description of the local processes of missionization in a frontier region examines the organization, operation and goals of the Mercedarian mission province located in the colonial Audiencia of Guatemala. Summary data concerning aspects of Lenca society and physical environment relevant to investigation of mission activities are provided. The importance of this study lies in its ability to explain mission development in frontier settings as well as to trace transformations within a mission order over almost a 250-year period.
