Elastomere Friction
Understanding elastomer friction is essential for the development of tyres, but also for sealings and other components. Thus it is of great technical importance. There are many aspects to modelling frictional processes in which an elastomer is interacting with a rough surface, ranging from theoretical formulations, leading to reduced and complex models, via numerical simulation techniques to experimental investigations and validations.

The IUTAM-Symposium on "Finite Inelastic Deformations - Theory and Applications" took place from August 19 to 23, 1991, at the University of Hannover, Germany, with 75 participants from 14 countries. Scope of the symposium was a fundamental treatment of new developments in plasticity and visco-plasticity at finite strains. This covered the phenomenological material theory based on continuum mechanics as well as the treatment of microstructural phenomena detected by precise experimental datas. Creep in Structures
There is a tradition to organize IUTAM Symposia "Creep in Structures" every ten years: the first Symposium was organized by N.J. Hoff in Stan ford (1960), the second one by J. Hult in Goteborg (1970), and the third one by A.R.S. Ponter in Leicester (1980). The fourth Symposium in Cracow, September 1990, gathered 123 par ticipants from 21 countries and reflected rapid development of the theory, experimental research and structural applications of creep and viscoplas ticity, including damage and rupture. Continuous Media with Microstructure 2
This book presents research advances in the field of Continuous Media with Microstructure and considers the three complementary pillars of mechanical sciences: theory, research and computational simulation. It focuses on the following problems: thermodynamic and mathematical modeling of materials with extensions of classical constitutive laws, single and multicomponent media including modern multifunctional materials, wave propagation, multiscale and multiphysics processes, phase transformations, and porous, granular and composite materials.
