The Oxford Handbook of the Malawi Economy
The Oxford Handbook of the Malawi Economy is an essential reference material with new research contributions and insights across the different areas of economic development to shape the country's future growth and development trajectory. The volume is the first publication that tries to assess the performance of the Malawi economy since independence, by examining how the underpinning political and economic history, and the associated policies and strategies have affected the country's long-term socio-economic development. It captures a broad range of opinions, approaches, and conclusions, which serve to underline both the complexity of the issues and challenges facing Malawi, and the immense difficulties in tackling them. Tobacco Control in Africa
This volume utilizes the work initiated and executed under a recent major public health initiative, the African Tobacco Situational Analyses (ATSA), which was sponsored by the Canadian government's International Development Research Centre (IDRC) with funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The program was conceived to illuminate the factors that will facilitate the reform of major public health policies, particularly, but not limited to, tobacco. The results, presented in this volume, are an important contribution to the literature on global public health and international development, and comprise the most comprehensive evidence-based analysis of tobacco policy in the African region.

Social Risk Management Strategies and Health Risk Exposure
Risk exposure is a major cause of poverty, deprivation and persistent vulnerability worldwide. This volume analyses individuals' and households' responses to a variety of risks, with an emphasis on health risks. The study adapts the Social Risk Management (SRM) conceptual framework and extends it considerably for academic inquiry. Using household data from Ghana and Malawi, empirical evidence is provided on the complex relationship between high risk exposure and the application of proactive and reactive SRM strategies (inc. health insurance), showing their specific contributions to risk management.

Global Health Watch (GHW), now in its sixth edition, provides the definitive voice for an alternative discourse on health.
