En relación con el periodo moderno podemos destacar la obra del arquitecto Jorge Gutiérrez Duque, como puede apreciarse en los edificios que aún subsisten y que no han sido alterados con el tiempo, como se evidenció en la excelente exposición de su trabajo realizada por la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, dentro de los eventos conmemorativos de los 70 años de la sede Manizales.
