Journal, dated December 31, 1869 to January 1, 1884, with miscellaneous recipes, poems, and notes. According to a letter of transmittal accompanying this journal, Ella Chase began the journal in Iowa and continued it during her family's move to Emporia, Kansas. The last entry in the journal is dated Wilson, Colfax County, Nebraska, January 1, 1884. Miscellany in the journal include brief accounting notes regarding the sale of butter and eggs, income from laundry service, occasional transcriptions of letters, and recipes.
Michael Auxier was born in France in 1685. He married Amelia Christopher and they had at least three children. They came to America because of the religious persecution of the Huguenots and settled in Pennsylvania about 1745. His descendants gradually moved to the south and then west. Information on his descendants who now live in Tennessee, Alabama, Utah, Missouri, and elsewhere is included in this volume.
