LEUVEN IN DE BELGISCHE REVOLUTIEIn de revolutieperiode van 1830 speelde Brussel een belangrijke rol voor de toekomst van de toenmalige Zuidelijke Nederlanden. Het feitenverloop, zoals zij zich toen voordeden, vormden een blauwdruk voor het latere België. Brussel stond in zijn verzet tegen het beleid van Willem I echter niet alleen. Het protest was eveneens fel in Luik, maar ook Leuven liet zich niet onbetuigd in de strijd. Het verzet in Leuven werd vooral aangemoedigd door de krant Journal de Louvain, dat sedert 1814 al bestond en in zijn redactie leden had zoals Léonard l'Elhougne, Adolphe Roussel en Pierre François van Meenen. Deze lieden zouden een belangrijke rol vervullen tijdens de revolutiedagen. De kritiek van de krant was aanvankelijk nog gematigd, maar zou later in zulke maten radicaliseren, dat zij werden beschouwd als een regelrechte aanleiding tot de Revolutie.Tentoonstellingen in het Noordbrabants Museum, 's-Hertogenbosch, van 23 september 2005 tot 8 januari 2006 en het Stedelijk Museum Vander Kelen-Mertens, Leuven, van 3 februari tot 30 april 2006.
