Autor clássico tardio de expressão grega, Flégon Trales ganhou notoriedade reconhecida por séculos, através de obra mormente perdida para a hodiernidade, à exceção de alguns fragmentos e secções de Sobre Maravilhas, Acerca de Vidas Longas e Sobre as Olimpíadas. Poderia constituir apenas mais um legado a acrescentar a tantos outros. Porém, a escrita de Flégon mostra-se enriquecedora, permitindo assistir a notas orientais; à assimilação cultural empreendida pelos dominadores militares romanos; à vivência e ao valor de elementos tradicionais pagãos num paradigma judaico-cristão que em certos casos demonstra a apropriação indevida e abusiva de afirmações do historiador traliano. Os temas poderão simplesmente entender-se como matéria leviana de gosto popular, marcada pela exploração de temáticas grotescas e assombrosas.
