Eine politische Linke gibt es nicht mehr. Als historisch eigenständige Kraft ist sie längst verschwunden. Unsere wohlklingenden Forderungen wie „Selbstverwirklichung“, „Authentizität“, „Emanzipation“, „Gleichberechtigung“ und „Vielfalt“ sind alles andere als links. Sie verhindern eben das, was sie versprechen: Begegnung, Entschiedenheit, Verwirklichung, Individualität, Welthaltigkeit, Anwesenheit, Gemeinsamkeit. Sie leiten uns in ein Dasein ohne Herkunft, Heimat, Nachkommenschaft und Transzendenz. Der Jargon der Weltoffenheit hält uns in der Vorläufigkeit gefangen: Alles erscheint greifbar, nichts ist erreichbar. Die westlichen Wertideen wie „Entgrenzung“, „Chancengleichheit“ oder „Toleranz“ rauben uns die soziale Dimension des Lebens. Am Ende soll das marktkonforme Individuum sich selbst verwerten und nur noch meßbare Leistungen austauschen. Diese Ökonomisierung des Lebens erweist sich als ein Fortschritt ins Leere. Eindringlich warnt Frank Böckelmann vor der auszehrenden Monotonie des westlichen Diskurses.
