Bröderna Grimm var en författarduo bestående av de två tyska bröderna Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm [1785–1868] och Wilhelm Carl Grim [1786–1859]. Bröderna samlade under sin livstid ett stort antal folksagor som de bearbetade och nedtecknade. Ett samlingsverk med 86 sagor gavs ut 1812. Ett utökat verk med 201 sagor gavs ut 1857 under titeln Bröderna Grimms sagor [Kinder- und Hausmärchen], det innehåller otaliga folkkära verk, bland dem Hans och Greta, Askungen, Snövit och de sju dvärgarna och Rödluvan och vargen. Rapunzel är saga 12 i originalsamlingen.
