Ophthalmology is a field of medicine that has grown rapidly during the last few decades. Several new and promising treatments have become available for eye conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal vein occlusions, diabetic macular oedema, genetic disorders, uveitis and inflammations. On the other hand, recent technological developments and advanced surgical techniques have drastically changed the daily practice of eye surgeons, with new surgical options resulting in safer, faster, and more precise surgery. This Research Topic aims to summarise modern therapeutic and surgical approaches on ocular diseases, adding a valuable contribution to our existing knowledge, to describe the current state-of-the-art, as well as to provide directions for future research.

Vascular Involvement in Eye Diseases
Retinal vessels have embryological, anatomical and physiological similarities with coronary and cerebral vessels and many systemic vascular pathologies, such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease affect the retinal vessels from function to structure. A growing body of evidence suggests that financial literacy plays an important role in financial well-being, and that differences in financial knowledge acquired early in life can explain a significant part of financial and more general well-being in adult life. Financial technology (FinTech) is revolutionizing the financial services industry at an unrivalled pace. Views differ regarding the impact that FinTech is likely to have on personal financial planning, well-being and societal welfare. In an era of mounting student debt, increased (digital) financial inclusion and threats arising from instances of (online) financial fraud, financial education and enlightened financial advising are appropriate policy interventions that enhance financial and overall well-being.
