In Fortsetzung der bereits 2012 bei Böhlau erschienenen Briefedition zu den Jahren 1802 bis 1829 werden hier erstmals die Briefe Aleksandr Turgenevs aus den Jahren 1830 bis 1845 an den lebenslangen Freund Vasilij Žukovskij nach den Handschriften samt dessen gedruckten Gegenbriefen veröffentlicht. In ihrer Korrespondenz wird das politische, gesellschaftliche, religiöse, wissenschaftliche und literarische Geschehen dieser Jahre in Westeuropa und Rußland reflektiert. Turgenevs Briefe geben zudem in großem Umfang Auskunft über seinen Lebensweg als Historiker und Zeitzeuge wie auch als Gesprächspartner und Korrespondent einer Vielzahl von Berühmtheiten seiner Zeit. Dabei lassen sie seine Bindung an die Tradition der russischen Aufklärung und damit deren Fortwirken in den neuen geistigen Prozessen Rußlands nach 1830 erkennen. Die Edition ist damit abgeschlossen.
