Walking in Catalunya - Girona Pyrenees
A guidebook to 35 graded day walks in Spain's Catalunya – Girona Pyrenees region. Walks are included for all abilities and can be walked between April and November, although some of the lower routes can be walked in winter as well. The routes and range from 5 to 19km and take between 2 and 8 hours. A Wittgenstein Symposium (Girona, 1989)
The centenary of the birth of Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951) provided an opportunity for recovering some of the great Wittgensteinian subjects, for re-examining them and for discussing their implications and relevance. This volume is the result of the interchange that took place in Girona (Spain) among well-known scholars of Wittgenstein's work in different countries. The eleven contributions are organized into three main subjects: on Wittgenstein's method (B. McGuinness, E. Tugendhat and J.M. Terricabras), on knowledge and meaning (G.E.M. Anscombe, R. Bambrough, N. Malcolm, and P.T. Geach), on language and use (D. Pears, E.v. Savigny, J. Bouveresse and J. Ferrater Mora). This volume is not only the result of the different and mature reflexions of its authors, but in two cases (Malcolm and Ferrater Mora) it has also unfortunately become their last contribution to the subject.

The Jews in Girona
An illustrated history of the Jews of Gerona, in Catalonia, in the 9th-16th centuries. Describes relations between the Jews and the royal, Church, and municipal authorities. The Jews were subject to intermittent violence over the centuries. Pp. 38-55 discuss persecutions between 1391-1492. In the 1391 riots, peasant mobs attacked the Jews; the royal authorities did not protect them, and municipal rulers, unable to control the violence, had the Jews take refuge for over a month in a fortified tower. Describes the forced (and voluntary) conversion of Jews to Christianity and ensuing Inquisitorial pressure to expose false and backsliding converts.
