Derecho del consumo
El derecho del consumo es el conjunto de principios, instituciones, herramientas y medidas jurídicas establecidos para proteger los derechos de los consumido-res. Tiene como fines garantizar la efectividad de los derechos a la salud, la seguridad y la libertad de los ciudadanos, mejorar el nivel de vida de la población, corregir las fallas de los mercados, procurar el cumplimiento de los principios de la buena fe, la transparencia, la eficiencia y la justicia. En este segundo tomo de Derecho del consumo, los autores presentan las principales instituciones del derecho privado del consumo, el cual se ocupa de la regulación de las relaciones jurídicas del consumo de carácter concreto e individual establecidas entre particulares. Su finalidad es explicar los derechos individuales de los consumidores en sus relaciones con los expendedores y fabricantes, para así contribuir a su protección.
Spatial Impacts of Climate Change
Climate change has been a central concern over recent years, with visible and highly publicized consequences such as melting Arctic ice and mountain glaciers, rising sea levels, and the submersion of low-lying coastal areas during mid-latitude and tropical cyclones. This book presents a review of the spatial impacts of contemporary climate change, with a focus on a systematic, multi-scalar approach. Beyond the facts – rises in temperature, changes in the spatial distribution of precipitation, melting of the marine and terrestrial cryosphere, changes in hydrological regimes at high and medium latitudes, etc. – it also analyzes the geopolitical consequences in the Arctic and Central Asia, changes to Mediterranean culture and to viticulture on a global scale, as well as impacts on the distribution of life, for example, in the Amazon rainforest, in large biomes on a global scale, and for birds.
The Relative Volatility of Commodity Prices
This paper studies the volatility of commodity prices on the basis of a large dataset of monthly prices observed in international trade data from the United States over the period 2002 to 2011. The conventional wisdom in academia and policy circles is that primary commodity prices are more volatile than those of manufactured products, even though most of the existing evidence does not actually attempt to measure the volatility of prices of individual goods or commodities. Rather the literature tends to focus on trends in the evolution and volatility of ratios of price indexes composed of multiple commodities and products. This approach can be misleading. Indeed, the evidence presented in this paper suggests that on average prices of individual primary commodities may be less volatile than those of individual manufactured goods.

Analysis of the MPEG-1 Layer III (MP3) Algorithm using MATLAB
The MPEG-1 Layer III (MP3) algorithm is one of the most successful audio formats for consumer audio storage and for transfer and playback of music on digital audio players. The MP3 compression standard along with the AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) algorithm are associated with the most successful music players of the last decade. This book describes the fundamentals and the MATLAB implementation details of the MP3 algorithm. Several of the tedious processes in MP3 are supported by demonstrations using MATLAB software.
