A Century of Jewish Life In Dixie

The first substantial history of the Jews in the industrial south This is the first substantial history of the Jews in any inland town or city of the industrial South. The author starts with the Reconstruction Period when the community was established and he carries the story down into the 1970’s. First there were the “Germans,”' the pioneers who built the community; then came the East Euopean emigres who had to cope not only with the problem of survival but the disdain if not the hostility of the already acculturated Central European settlers who had forgotten their own humble beginnings. After World War I came the fusion of the two groups and the need to cooperate religiously and to integrate their cultural, social, and philanthropic institutions. Binding them together and speeding the rise of a total Jewish community was the ever present fear of anti-Jewish prejudice and the “peculiar” problem, a real one, of steering a course between the Christian Whites and the Christian Blacks.

Samantha Green, the sharpest investigator for Heartland Global Insurance is on the case again. This time, readers are transported to Seattle, where Sam uncovers the mystery behind a stolen book dating back to the fifteenth century. She encounters a handsome detective along the way whom she suspects has romantic intentions, or at least interests. Samantha senses some chemistry worth exploring, too-at least until she meets the darkly handsome stranger who is Seattle's resident expert on rare books. In Green in the Emerald City, we again travel with the smart and beautiful Samantha as the secrets of her late parents and her uncle unfold in this spellbinding, page turning novella. This second book in "The Green Series" will have readers holding their breath, as the quick-witted insurance investigator digs into the past to learn the truth about her parents death, her uncle's long lost love, and the centuries-old book that brought them all together.

At the core, it doesn't matter what you believe governs the fate of man and Earth, what matters is that humans, as a global society, build a future that is sustainable and peaceful. This is the ultimate human evolutionary development, this is our challenge. By tracing our existence from where we began to what we have become today, this book explores the evolution and, should we continue on our current path, the subsequent possible obsolescence of human beings. Far from a doomsday tome, The Fishbowl Principle challenges readers to expand their worldview. We need to change our measure of a successful life from simply existing to prospering. The authors refuse to accept that life as we exist to...
