Desde su acceso al poder, el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador ha manifestado admiración por las virtudes del modelo de crecimiento económico que impulsó la modernización del país entre 1954 y 1970: el desarrollo estabilizador. Los resultados positivos de esta experiencia parecen inspirar la convicción presidencial de que las políticas de aquel periodo son deseables; por consiguiente, ha propuesto recuperar algunas de ellas. ¿Cuán justa es esa valoración positiva? ¿Cuáles eran las condiciones políticas del país en ese momento? ¿Es el desarrollo estabilizador la respuesta a los dilemas de la economía mexicana de principios del siglo XXI?
