Raising Real Men

Families with boys often find the world reacts to them in mock horror. Even though parents love their sons, privately they admit that boys can be a handful to raise--they are boisterous, competitive, reckless, distractable. The challenge of wills between parent and son starts early, and the quest to civilize young bulls may seem hopeless some days. Yet believers know that God has given them children as a gift of heaven, specially chosen for their particular families and marked as a blessing. If that's so, why does it seem so hard? How can we prepare these boys to serve God when it's all we can do to make it through another day? Isn't there a better way? Raising Real Men: Surviving, Teaching ...

The Great War is a landmark history that firmly places the First World War in the context of imperialism. Set to overturn conventional accounts of what happened during this, the first truly international conflict, it extends the study of the First World War beyond the confines of Europe and the Western Front. By recounting the experiences of people from the colonies especially those brought into the war effort either as volunteers or through conscription, John Morrow's magisterial work also unveils the impact of the war in Asia, India and Africa. From the origins of World War One to its bloody (and largely unknown) aftermath, The Great War is distinguished by its long chronological coverage, first person battle and home front accounts, its pan European and global emphasis and the integration of cultural considerations with political.

What does it mean to be "truly converted" to Jesus Christ? To "endure to the end"? Mortal life is full of trials and temptations that can challenge our faith and impede our progress to return to our Heavenly Father's presence. It's easy to become discouraged, frustrated, or unmotivated when faced with what can feel like an impossible journey. But it's important to remember that the Lord does not demand or expect perfection in this life. All He asks is that we press forward in His name and find the strength to take the next step. Drawing from the teachings of the Savior, revelation from modern prophets, and personal anecdotes, authors Christopher R. Greenwood and Mark D. Mason guide you throu...

The Decoys

In November 1942, Britain and America launched Operation TORCH, the ambitious invasion of French North Africa. To convey 70,000 troops and their equipment required 600 merchant ships crossing the U-boat infested North Atlantic. The need for their protection meant withdrawing escorts from the routine convoys. Amongst those left without adequate defence were RB 1 and SC 107, both eastbound from America, and SL 125, northbound from Freetown. All three were at sea at the same time as the TORCH convoys.
