Nos dias 18, 19 e 20 de setembro de 2024, a charmosa e acolhedora cidade de Curitiba transformou-se, sem exagero, na capital mundial dos Precedentes, quando nela se reuniram duas centenas de processualistas, brasileiros e estrangeiros, para, refletindo sobre aquela temática, celebrar dois de seus maiores pensadores brasileiros, o Professor Luiz Guilherme Marinoni e a Professora Teresa Arruda Alvim. Foi a forma pela qual o Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Processual – IBDP, fundado em 1958, decidiu homenagear aqueles eminentes Professores, ao ensejo de suas XV Jornadas Brasileiras de Direito Processual.

Social Fabric: Art and Activism in Contemporary Brazil brings together the work of ten artists who reflect upon the long-standing histories of oppressive power structures in the territory now known as Brazil. Blurring the line between art and activism and spanning installation, painting, performance, photography, sculpture, and video, these artists contribute to local and global conversations about the state of democracy, racial injustice, and the violence inflicted by the nation-state. This first English-language, book-length study of contemporary Brazilian art in relationship to activism assembles artist-authored texts, interviews, essays, and a conceptual mapping of Brazilian history to illuminate the function of art as a platform for critical engagement with the historical, political, and cultural configurations of a particular place. By refusing to remain neutral, these artists create spaces of vibrant and vital community and self-construction to explore how healing and justice may be possible, especially in the Black, LGBTQIA+, and Indigenous communities to which many of them belong.

Metabolic Responses and Adaptations to Exercise
Worldwide, individuals are living longer. As such, the number of older adults in society is increasing. By 2050, it is estimated that there will be more than two billion individuals aged over 60. This aging population is associated with an anticipated increase in the burden of the leading causes of death in modern societies, including chronic and degenerative diseases that are largely driven by age-related declines in physiological function. Physical activity is an essential regulator of energy homeostasis and helps improve metabolic health. In fact, it is well known that regular exercise lowers the risk of a broad variety of health problems, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer in the aged. The beneficial effect of exercise is particularly evident in older people, but it is present in all stages of life, from children to the elderly. In this regard, regular exercise and physical activity are considered key first line strategies for a healthy life.
