Das Lexikon der Betriebswirtschaft verfolgt das Ziel, betriebswirtschaftliche Grundbegriffe präzise und aktuell zu erläutern. Es werden neben den Begriffen der Allgemeinen Betriebswirtschaftslehre auch Begriffe von betriebswirtschaftlichen Spezialdisziplinen, Begriffe aus der Volkswirtschaftslehre und der Finanzwissenschaft sowie juristische Begriffe aufgenommen. Damit wird einerseits verdeutlicht, dass ein Lexikon der Betriebswirtschaft weiter gefasst sein muss als die Begriffswelt der Betriebswirtschaftslehre; andererseits soll klar gestellt werden, dass sowohl Praktiker als auch Studenten der Betriebswirtschaftslehre und benachbarter Disziplinen über die Grenzen der Betriebswirtschaftslehre hinaus zwingend notwendig über interdisziplinäres Wissen verfügen müssen.
