This report is the result of a study of the usage of various ozone depleting and global warming gases in the UK. The study was carried out by March Consulting Group on behalf of the Global Atmosphere Division of the Department of the Enivronment during the period October 1995 to March 1996. The gases studied inmclude CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, PFCs, SF6 and NF3. Two of these fluid groups - CFCs and HCFHs are ozone depleting substances that are being phased out under the Montreal Protocol and EC regulations. All the other gases studied make a contribution to global warming. The study has two aims to evaluate progress towards the phase out of certain ozone depleting substances and to establish emission inventories for certain global warming gases.
