Achtzehn Jahre nach Erscheinen der 1. Ausgabe des LEXIKONS DER EXLIBRISKÜNSTLER war es an der Zeit nach der 2., 3. und 4. Auflage, die von den Bibliotheken und den Sammlern gut aufgenommen wurden, eine 5. Ausgabe des Lexikons folgen zu lassen. Es entspricht einem Bedürfnis des ernsthaften Sammlers, stets auf der Höhe der Zeit zu sein. In diesem Sinne hoffe ich, ihm, dem Sammler, ein Hilfsmittel an die Hand zu geben, das seine Wünsche zumindest teilweise befriedigt. Bei all meinen Recherchen zeigte sich immer wieder, dass viele Lebensdaten der Exlibris-Schaffenden unvollständig oder gar falsch sind oder sich widersprechen. All diese Daten wurden in das Lexikon so gut es eben ging eingear...
