La storia del campo di concentramento di Mauthausen
Mauthausen, per molti deportati, è stato sinonimo di morte. Delle circa 200.000 persone condotte nel lager austriaco, o in uno dei suoi 49 campi esterni, soltanto la metà ha potuto assistere alla liberazione avvenuta il 5 maggio 1945. Per tenere in moto questa gigantesca macchina di morte, i nazisti pianificarono un sistema logistico estremamente articolato e organizzato, gestito da ditte esterne, ma anche da criminali comuni e profittatori. Dopo anni di assenza dalle librerie, torna l’opera principale sulla storia del campo di concentramento di Mauthausen firmata da Hans Maršálek, prigioniero nel campo dal 1942 al 1944. Un lavoro che ha gettato i presupposti per tutti gli studi e le ricerche successive sul tema, e che rappresenta un importante contributo sul piano della conoscenza storica per non dimenticare quanto avvenuto nell’abisso della violenza dei lager.
