The log home, the first building donated to the Henry County Historical Society, was home to early settlers living in the Great Black Swamp. Over the years, much of the history of this little home was lost. Questions of "who built it," "who lived here," and "what did the home look like prior to its move" prompted a two-year quest to unlock and uncover the forgotten history of this little home. In answering these questions, the history of the families which dwelled inside, in the backwoods of Henry County, Ohio in the 1850s through early 1900s, was also uncovered. The Henry County Historical Society's Log Home remains an enduring piece of Henry County and American history. This fascinating history is paired with beautiful and poignant photographs which bring the Ritter and Hartman families to life and reminds us what life was like Between These Four Walls.
