This landmark reference provides the most complete coverage of magnetic resonance imaging of the abdomen and pelvis, with particular emphasis on illustrating benign, malignant, and inflammatory lesions. Organized by anatomic region, the text presents brief descriptions of pathophysiology followed by detailed discussion of characteristics of the relevant organ or system. Extensively updated and revised throughout, the new third edition includes over 2,500 figures, of which more than 500 are all-new, including over 200 3T images presented throughout the organ systems. Two all-new chapters are also included, one discussing MRI in pregnancy, and another on MRI of the Breast.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Pattern Recognition in Bioinformatics, PRIB 2012, held in Tokyo, Japan, in November 2012. The 24 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 33 submissions. Their topics are widely ranging from fundamental techniques, sequence analysis to biological network analysis. The papers are organized in topical sections on generic methods, visualization, image analysis, and platforms, applications of pattern recognition techniques, protein structure and docking, complex data analysis, and sequence analysis.
This new and significant book concentrates on brain mapping which is a set of neuroscience techniques predicated on the mapping of (biological) quantities or properties onto spatial representations of the (human or non-human) brain resulting in maps. All neuroimaging can be considered part of brain mapping. Brain mapping can be conceived as a higher form of neuroimaging, producing brain images supplemented by the result of additional (imaging or non-imaging) data processing or analysis, such as maps projecting (measures of) behaviour onto brain regions (see fMRI). Brain mapping techniques are constantly evolving, and rely on the development and refinement of image acquisition, representation, analysis, visualisation and interpretation techniques. Functional and structural neuroimaging are at the core of the mapping aspect of brain mapping.
Given the uncertainties in future food and nutrition security due to climate change compounded with an increasing global population, sustainable development is essential for the survival of much of the world's population. Besides the conceptual evolution of food and nutrition security, exploration of new scientific areas aids in reshaping our knowledge of nutritional requirements, and innovation of novel technologies can be utilized to tackle production and security issues in sustainable ways. Emerging Solutions in Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security provides comprehensive and up-to-date coverage of the current problems and issues, emerging ideas, and pragmatic solutions in sustainable n...
This landmark reference provides the most complete coverage of magnetic resonance imaging of the abdomen and pelvis, with particular emphasis on illustrating benign, malignant and inflammatory lesions. the first chapter provides an introduction to relevant imaging physics, summary of contrast media for body imaging, and imaging protocols. Organized by anatomic region, the text presents brief descriptions of pathophysiology followed by detailed discussion of characteristics of entities in the relevant organ or system. Extensively updated and revised throughout, the new, 3rd edition includes ove
