Isaac Sprague was corresponding from the family farm in Hingham with his younger brother who worked as a library assistant at the Boston Athenaeum. Collection includes: (HS) 1809 Sept. 24, his duties at the Athenaeum -- (IS) 1810 Sept. 30, comments on the Monthly Anthology and a speach of an Indian to a Christian preacher -- (IS) 1811 Feb. 3, Monthly Anthology "much tainted with Toryism"--(HS) 1811 March 8, acts as a porter at the Athenaeum, has seen Cooke play Richard the Third, received books from Constantinople in Greek, Shaw unable to get to the Athenaeum because of rheumatism -- (HS) 1811 Dec., comments on having eaten wild duck, calf's head, tongue, goose; battle with Indians commented on -- (IS) 1812 Dec., presidential election "will probably defeat the hopes and expectations of Dewitt Clinton."
