El presente libro nace de la reflexión desarrollada en torno a la búsqueda de propuestas alternativas para estudiantes que fracasan en la matemática escolar y pretende elaborar una aproximación crítica a las propuestas de matemática y contexto, realizando un recorrido por sus limitaciones y posibilidades. Este trabajo se acerca primero a los planteamientos teóricos: el aprendizaje matemático desde la perspectiva sociocultural y el contexto. Después, intenta dar respuesta a cuestiones que se plantean en la construcción del contexto y en su utilización en el aula.. Y por último, presenta una experiencia en la que se incorpora el contexto desde una perspectiva holística.
