Church Reckoning with Communism in Post-1989 Romania
The present volume focuses on the relationship with Communism of Romania's most important religious denominations and their attempt to cope with that difficult past which continues to cast an important shadow over their present. For the first time ever, this volume considers both the majority Romanian Orthodox Church and significant minority denominations such as the Roman and Greek Catholic Churches, the Reformed Church, the Hungarian Unitarian Church, and the Pentecostal Christian Denomination. It argues that no religious group escaped collaboration with the Communists. After 1989, however, most denominations had little desire to tackle their tainted past and make a clean start. In part, this situation was facilitated by the country's deficient legislation that did not encourage the pursuit of lustration, which in turn did not lead to a serious movement of elite renewal in the religious realm. Instead, a strong process of reproduction of the old elites and their adaptation to democracy has been the dominant characteristic of the post-Communist period.
Poetry in Late Byzantium
The late Byzantine period (thirteenth to fifteenth centuries) was marked by both cultural fecundity and political fragmentation, resulting in an astonishingly multifaceted literary output. Lucrarea de față își propune studierea modului în care iconografia monetară a Imperiului Roman Târziu/Bizantin, din perioada cuprinsă între secolele al IV-lea și al XII-lea, reflectă în temele sale transformările de ordin politic, social și cultural-religios prin care a trecut acesta. Actualitatea temei propuse este susținută în primul rând de necesitatea valorificării unui izvor istoric mai puțin utilizat ca atare. Studiul ne oferă posibilitatea evidențierii unor aspecte importante ale politicii imperiale romane târzii/bizantine, care, interpretate în context, aruncă o oarecare lumină asupra dinamicilor sociale, politice, culturale și religioase ale Imperiului. Metodele principale pe care le voi utiliza pentru atingerea scopului lucrării de față sunt: metoda istorică și cea comparativă.

Cartea care constituie obiectul ediției de față, tipărită împreună cu Psaltirea în versuri, la Uniev, în 1673, este una de mică întindere și ar putea trece drept o operă neînsemnată a vechiului scris românesc, însă privită de aproape, se dovedește a fi, în opinia mea, punctul de plecare pentru înțelegerea întregii activități de traducător a mitropolitului. Dincolo de exprimarea nuanțată la care el forțează limba română, reușește să propună, indirect, prin felul în care se raportează la textele pe care le transpune dintr-o limbă într-alta, o adevărată viziune asupra actului de traducere în sine.
