Este libro examina la evolución de la criminalidad en la Zona Metropolitana de la Ciudad de México, la metrópoli real, fragmentada por las decisiones políticas. Muestra cómo existe un patrón delictivo urbano sistemático en toda la mancha urbana, que supera la división política. Estima el tamaño del mundo criminal en la gran ciudad y las respuestas de los distintos gobiernos y de la sociedad hacia estas formas de violencia. Evalúa a las políticas ejecutadas por los gobiernos locales contra la violencia, al ejercicio de la coerción estatal y a la búsqueda de una forma diferente de hacer justicia. Es el primer estudio que elabora una estimación completa del tamaño del mundo criminal en la metrópoli.
El municipio ante la crisis del federalismo mexicano
La publicación de este libro coincide con la conmemoración de los 100 años de promulgación de la Constitución Política de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos; máximo ordenamiento jurídico que regula la vida de nuestro país. Entre las instituciones más importantes emanadas de este documento, se encuentra sin duda alguna, el sistema federal, uno de los cuatro que existen en la región, aunque paradójicamente, a pesar de ello, México sea reconocido como uno de los países más centralizados. La Constitución señala las reglas con base en las cuales los gobiernos federal, estatales y municipales trabajan para promover los objetivos más importantes, que de acuerdo con la actual agenda global de desarrollo son la erradicación de la pobreza y la inequidad. Este colosal reto obliga a preguntarse cuáles son los resultados que el modelo federal mexicano ha tenido en la promoción de mejores condiciones de vida para la población y en qué medida es aún útil para impulsar el trabajo coordinado de las tres esferas de gobierno, junto con los sectores privado y social, a fin de procurar el desarrollo integral de la nación.

The Spanish Coastal Systems
This monograph presents the state of art of the geologic knowledge about the Spanish coast obtained through scientific research in the last 30 years.From a general point of view, coasts are the most quickly changing systems of the Earth. This is critical, since many human resources, such as the main part of economic and social activities, are located in the coastal areas. Especially in the case of Spain these coasts include cities, wide industrial areas (including harbor complexes), important ecologic systems, and our main economic resource: tourism. Understanding the dynamic functioning of each element of this coast is vital for correct future coastal management, so as to solve problems derived from bad plans developed in the last decades of the twentieth century.
