Based on the International Symposium on Immunotherapy of Infections held recently at the Robert Koch Institute, Berlin, Germany, this work discusses cytokines as well as synthetic and natural immunomodulators and their applications in the immunotherapy of bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal infections.;The contributors describe innovative treatment concepts that act as adjuncts to established therapies for the control of both existing and newly emerging infectious diseases.
The Algae World
Algal World has been carefully written and edited with an interdisciplinary appeal and aims to bring all aspects of Algae together in one volume. The 22 chapters are divided into two different parts which have been authored by eminent researchers from across the world. The first part, Biology of Algae, contains 10 chapters dealing with the general characteristics, classification and description of different groups such as Blue Green Algae, Green Algae, Brown Algae, Red Algae, Diatoms, Xanthophyceae, Dinophyceae, etc. In , it has two important chapters covering Algae in Extreme Environments and Life Histories and Growth Forms in Green Algae. The second part, Applied Phycology, contains 12 chapters dealing with the more applied aspects ranging from Algal Biotechnology, Biofuel, Phycoremediation, Bioactive Compounds, Biofertilizer, Fatty Acids, Harmful Algal Blooms, Industrial Applications of Seaweeds, Nanotechnology, Phylogenomics and Algal culture Techniques, etc.
Meteorite Research
The Symposium 'Meteorite Research' was conceived originally at the second meeting of the UNESCO Working Group on Meteorites, held in Paris October 18-20, 1965, under the chairmanship of Professor J. Orce!' In addition to the Chairman the fol lowing were present: Dr. G. Harbottle, Dr. M. H. Hey, Dr. B. H. Mason, Dr. P. M. Millman, Professor K. I. Sztr6kay. Dr. E. M. Fournier d'Albe represented the UNESCO Secretariat. Recommendation No.4 from the minutes of this meeting reads as follows: "The Working Group, in view ofthe need to strengthen international co-operation in meteorite research, asks that the International Atomic Energy Agency be requested to consider the possibility of organizing, in 1968, an interdisciplinary conference on meteorites, in collaboration with UNESCO and the appropriate international scientific organizations." After approval in principle of this recommendation had been secured from various international agencies and unions, plans for the symposium were consolidated at the third and final meeting of the Working Group, held in Paris October 12-14, 1966, the members in attendance being the same as for the second meeting.

We hope that this book will contribute further to the literature available about steroids and enables the reader to further understand this interesting and rapidly evolving science.
