The Hunger of the Mountain

Sent on a perilous mission to locate a band of hunters gone missing in the untamed wilderness, Achak, a skilled warrior caught between two worlds, finds himself embroiled in a battle against insatiable monsters with an unquenchable hunger for flesh. But Achak is not alone. Amidst the backdrop of escalating tensions between French and American colonists, he must navigate treacherous political landscapes and draw the battle lines between conflicting forces. In a time when neutrality seems impossible, Achak yearns to avoid the looming conflict that threatens to engulf him. As he traverses the unforgiving mountainous terrain, facing dangers at every turn, Achak must summon his courage, strength, and cunning to outwit and survive the ferocious creatures that stalk him. In this pulse-pounding sword and sorcery-style adventure, set during the Colonial Age, the line between hunter and hunted becomes blurred. Will Achak manage to maintain his neutrality in the face of mounting chaos, or will he be swept up in a storm of violence and turmoil? Join Achak on this thrilling journey where survival depends on one's wits, as he battles both monstrous adversaries and the demons within himself.

Ethics in Pediatrics

This book offers easy access to the everyday ethics problems that occur in the medical care of children. It contains practical guidance on how physicians and other healthcare practitioners may manage both straightforward and complex ethics problems. The book provides a readable and comprehensive introduction to ethics issues for beginners and is also extremely valuable to experienced practitioners. This work covers important "classical" ethical issues such as privacy, confidentiality, truth telling, and discusses the elements of the relationships that might exist between parents and healthcare providers. However, the book also provides a resource for new and emerging areas of bioethics. These include issues arising in the new population of children who are beginning to survive the neonatal and infant periods with a multitude of problems – “children with medical complexity". Finally, it also includes a section on the advantages and pitfalls of social media use.

Marriage Records of Berkeley County, Virginia for the Period of 1781-1854

Because of its location, Berkeley County, Virginia was a natural magnet for migration and a focal point of westward expansion. The bulk of Berkeley County's early records--including its marriage records--can be found today in the courthouse in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The present work is a digest of the Berkeley marriage records for the entire period from 1781 through 1854. It is arranged in alphabetical order by the names of both brides and grooms and contains the records of nearly 6,000 marriages. At least 15,000 persons are mentioned in this work, not counting ministers.
