Buku bahan ajar IPA berbasis literasi sains disusun sebagai rujukan bagi mahasiswa PGSD dalam membuat bahan ajar IPA. Hal ini tidak terlepas dari hasil PISA Indonesia tahun 2015 yang mendapatkan 403 poin. Perolehan nilai yang didapatkan pada tes PISA tahun sebelumnya pun belum mampu menembus nilai rata-rata 500 dari nilai yang ditetapkan, skor Indonesia berada pada Low Internasional Bencmark. Salahsatu faktor penyebabnya adalah masih lemahnya budaya sains di Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, melalui buku ini mahasiswa mendapat petunjuk dalam pembuatan bahan ajar. Sehingga diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan literasi sains lebih luasnya menjadi literat sains.
Buku ini merupakan buku antologi/kumpulan cerita pendek hasil karya cipta dosen dan mahasiswa PGSD IKIP Siliwangi dan mahasiswa PGMI 4C UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung dalam memenuhi tugas perkuliahan pada mata kuliah Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia di SD/MI. Ditulisnya buku ini sebagai upaya dalam memfasilitasi ekspresi sastra mahasiswa melalui karya tulis cerpen dengan tema bacaan anak-anak khususnya bagi siswa/siswi SD-MI. Buku ini berusaha menghadirkan cerita-cerita berbasis imajinasi baik secara fiksi maupun non-fiksi yang dituangkan ke dalam bahasa sederhana, dengan harapan mampu dipahami oleh seluruh pembaca terutama siswa SD/MI, sehingga mampu menjadi buku dalam kegiatan literasi baik di lingkungan sekolah maupun di rumah.
