The Arabic Version of Ṭūsī's Nasirean Ethics

Avicenna and the Aristotelian Tradition
Through close study of Avicenna's statements and major works, Dimitri Gutas traces Avicenna's own sense of his place in the Aristotelian tradition and the history of philosophy in Islam, and provides an introduction to reading his philosophical works by delineating the approach most consistent with Avicenna's intention and purpose in philosophy. History of Philosophy and the Reflective Society
This book is about innovation, reflection and inclusion. Cultural innovation is something real that tops up social and technological innovation by providing the reflective society with spaces of exchange in which citizens engage in the process of sharing their experiences while appropriating common goods content. We are talking of public spaces such as universities, academies, libraries, museums, science-centres, but also of any place in which co-creation activities may occur. The argument starts with the need for new narratives in the history of philosophy, which can be established through co-creation, the motor of cultural innovation. The result is redefining the history of philosophy in terms of a dialogical civilization by ensuring continuous translations, individual processes of reflection and collective processes of inclusion. Reading Proclus and the Book of Causes, Volume 3
Reading Proclus and the Book of Causes, published in three volumes, is a fresh, comprehensive understanding of the history of Neoplatonism from the 9th to the 16th century. This third volume gathers contributions on key concepts of the Platonic tradition (Proclus, Plotinus, Porphyry or Sallustius) inherited and reinterpreted by Arabic (e.g. Avicenna, the Book of Causes), Byzantine (e.g. Maximus the Confessor, Ioane Petritsi) and Latin authors (e.g. Albert the Great, Thomas Aquinas, Berthold of Moosburg, Marsilio Ficino etc.). Two major themes are presently studied: causality (in respect to the One, the henads, the self-constituted substances and the first being) and the noetic triad (being-life-intellect).
La Summa Alexandrinorum
This is the first critical edition of the Summa Alexandrinorum, that is the medieval Arabo-Latin version of an Arabic abridgment of the Nicomachean Ethics. The text is accompanied by a French translation, and is preceded by an analysis of the manuscript tradition and a study on the origins of the Summa. Cette première édition critique de la Summa Alexandrinorum, version arabo-latine médiévale d’un abrégé arabe de l’Éthique à Nicomaque, accompagnée d’une traduction française, est précédée de l’examen de la tradition manuscrite du texte et d’une étude sur les origines de la Summa.
