Background and Aims: The added cost of dementia in the elderly population was shown to be particularly linked to behavioural symptoms. Numerous behavioural symptoms occur over the course of the disease and they affect both patients and caregivers. The present study assesses their influence on resource use. Methods: A cross-sectional analysis of a cohort of 349 dementia patients living in southwestern France was conducted from January to July 2001.
