This is a history of domestic space in Canada. Peter Ward looks at how spaces in the Canadian home have changed over the last three centuries, and how family and social relationships have shaped -- and been shaped by -- these changing spaces. A fundamental element of daily life for individuals and families is domestic privacy, that of individuals and that of the family or household.
Cabinetmaker's art in Ontario, c. 1850-1900
This study examines the life and work of a rural nineteenth-century Ontario cabinetmaker, Francis Jones. An appreciation of his work is gained through illustrations and discussions of his shop and furniture-making techniques. This story is typical of many nineteenth-century crafts when industrialization resulted in mass production and the disappearance of traditional trades.

Science, Technology and Canadian History
The first Conference on the Study of the History of Canadian Science and Technology, held in Kingston, Ontario in November 1978, marks the emergence of a new Canadian discipline. This wide-ranging, bilingual collection of papers and workshops includes contributions by some of the historians, scientists, educators, students, archivists, and government representatives present at the conference.
