This book deals with the category of converbs, whose denomination refers to a set of structures which cross-linguistically are not comparable. Specifically, we tackle the following topics: (1) converbs and related constructions as areal features, distinguishing between a general coordinating and subordinating type of converb; (2) converbs in the context of linguistic families, particularly in the Indo-European domain, displaying different non-finite structures to express the adverbial domain; (3) converbial constructions and competing construction types, (4) the diachronic typology of converbs and their source constructions.

Coordinating Constructions
This is the first book on coordinating constructions that adopts a broad cross-linguistic perspective. Coordination has been studied intensively in English and other major European languages, but we are only beginning to understand the range of variation that is found world-wide. This volume consists of a number of general studies, as well as fourteen case studies of coordinating constructions in languages or groups of languages: Africa (Iraqw, Fongbe, Hausa), the Caucasus (Daghestanian, Tsakhur, Chechen), the Middle East (Persian and other Western Iranian languages), Southeast Asia (Lai, Karen, Indonesian), the Pacific (Lavukaleve, Oceanic, Nêlêmwa), and the Americas (Upper Kuskokwim Athabaskan). A detailed introductory chapter summarizes the main results of the volume and situates them in the context of other relevant current research.

Progressive Politics after the Crash
Those who hoped the collapse of financial markets would usher in the end of neoliberalism and rehabilitate support for traditional social democratic policies programmes have been disappointed. Student Lives in Crisis
The greatest social change in Europe during the last twenty years is that almost half of Europe's young people now attend college. Yet despite these unprecedented levels of university attendance, the lived experiences of students remain largely undocumented.
