My Green Green Grass

From the age of twelve, Jerri had burning desires to hang out with friends. She watched as other children her age got involved in "street activities," which she longed to be a part of. Jerri's parents gave their only daughter the attention and love required, but that was not enough for Jerri. Then at age of fourteen, fate created an opportunity for her to fulfill her desires, and so Jerri took hold of it like a piece of cake. Jerri's dad warned her of her involvement in the gang: "Darling, the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence." "Dad, since you put it that way, this is my green, green grass,' and I am going to enjoy it." But it was not long before Jerri's "green grass" began to give her emotional diarrhea and involved cheating death. Follow Jerri as she relates her heart-rending story to her flatmate, Andrea. And I am sure that this story will change your life.

Tolleson

In 1907, five years before Arizona's statehood, Walter Gist Tolleson and his wife, Alethea, chose the dry Arizona Territory for their sick son. In 1910, they purchased and later subdivided 160 acres just 10 miles from a young settlement known as Phoenix. And in 1912, the town of Tolleson was born. By the 1940s and 1950s, the community had become the "Vegetable Center of the World." The area that was once an agricultural mecca is now divided by suburban sprawl, but Tolleson's original spirit remains. It is bustling with growing schools and industry, as well as world-class sports, shopping, and entertainment facilities, all surrounding a 6-square-mile community with small-town pride. That inexhaustible spirit continues to make Tolleson one of the greatest places in the country to live.

Greg Moore is one of three sons of NASCAR Hall of Famer Bud Moore. Bud is a highly decorated World War II veteran who landed on Utah Beach on D-Day. Greg grew up in an auto racer's world in which his father's cars and drivers won dozens of races and back to back championships. Those drivers were Greg's friends, and two died in racing crashes within a year when he was 6 to 7 years old. Greg chose racing over college and went to work in his father's business, staying there for the next 25 years. He worked especially with racing engines and became team manager for such winning drivers as Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Ricky Rudd and Geoff Bodine until Bud Moore Engineering was sold in 2000. Greg accompanies his father everywhere making personal appearances. His personal recollections of a life that others could only dream of, from childhood to adulthood, give fascinating insight into the world of big-time stock car racing.
