Scottish artist Jim Lambie's involvement in the Glasgow music scene has considerable influence on his work. Like music, visual art can fill a space and change the way we perceive our surroundings as well as ourselves. It can produce altered states of mind. Using vibrantly colored tapes that follow the contours of a room, Lambie's installations transform and energize gallery spaces. Voidoid also showcases the artist's 3-dimensional works made from vinyl records, inserts, and record players, as well as his Psychedelicsoulsticks, composed of multicolored thread, bamboo, and small objects like Buddhas or broken pieces of ceramics.

The first major monograph on Turner Prize–nominated Glasgow artist Jim Lambie. This long-awaited volume surveys the career of Glasgow-based contemporary sculptor Jim Lambie. From his distinctive floor works, striped from wall to wall with vibrant electrical tape, to his paint-soaked mattresses, Lambie adroitly sculpts humor and pathos from the clutter of modern life. From the psychedelic taped floor works Zobop to glitter covered turntables, Glasgow-based artist Jim Lambie transforms objects and materials gleaned from the most ordinary of circumstances into objects and environments of dizzying and bejewelled gorgeousness. His interest in the transforming power of pop and soul music, and his playful use of materials have led him to make some of the most memorable works to be seen in the past five years. Male Stripper marks Lambie s new installation made for Modern Art Oxford in Autumn 2003. This fully illustrated book features installation views of the works in the exhibition and an important new essay on Lambie s work by novelist and writer Michael Bracewell.

Jim Lambie's solo exhibition at The Fruitmarket Gallery is accompanied by a new publication that celebrates one of Lambie's most generous sculptures, a poetry club he established in Glasgow in 2012. Including poetry from John Giorno, Richard Hell, Liz Lochhead and Gerard Malanga among others, the book presents a sample of The Poetry Club, a rich assemblage of some of the people who, in Lambie's words, 'give us our dreams'.
