The Southern Tang was one of China’s minor dynasties and one of the great states in China in the tenth century. Although often regarded as one of several states preceding the much better known Song dynasty (960-1279), the Southern Tang dynasty was in fact the key state in this period, preserving cultural values and artefacts from the former great Tang dynasty (618-907) which were to form the basis of Song rule, and thereby presenting the Song with a direct link to the Tang and it traditions. Boundary Element Methods
Significant developments in the boundary element method during the last two decades have made it a powerful alternative to the domain-type numerical methods of solution such as the finite element method. The advances made in the BEM are more or less due to the innovation of efficient computational techniques by introducing boundary elements for discretization of the boundary integral equations resulting from the so-called direct formulation. BEM has therefore become an efficient tool for optimal design and other inverse problems. These proceedings include discussion of the applications of BEM in mechanical engineering and the principles that have developed to make it an increasingly useful method of problem solving.

This collection of exciting essays explores how the representations and the ideologies of masculinities can be productively studied in the context of Hong Kong cinema. It has two objectives: first, to investigate the multiple meanings and manifestations of masculinities in Hong Kong cinema that compliment and contradict each other. Second, to analyze the social and cultural environments that make these representations possible and problematic. Masculinities and Hong Kong Cinema presents a comprehensive picture of how Hong Kong mainstream cinematic masculinities are produced within their own socio-cultural discourses, and how these masculinities are distributed, received, and transformed within the setting of the market place. This volume is divided into three interrelated parts: the local cinematic tradition; the transnational context and reverberations; and the larger production, reception, and mediation environments.
