Proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
The 16th ICSMGE responds to the needs of the engineering and construction community, promoting dialog and exchange between academia and practice in various aspects of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering. This is reflected in the central theme of the conference 'Geotechnology in Harmony with the Global Environment'. The proceedings of the conference are of great interest for geo-engineers and researchers in soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering. Volume 1 contains 5 plenary session lectures, the Terzaghi Oration, Heritage Lecture, and 3 papers presented in the major project session. Volumes 2, 3, and 4 contain papers with the following topics: Soil mechanics in general; Infrastructure and mobility; Environmental issues of geotechnical engineering; Enhancing natural disaster reduction systems; Professional practice and education. Soft Material-Enabled Electronics for Medicine, Healthcare, and Human-Machine Interfaces
Soft material-enabled electronics offer distinct advantage, over conventional rigid and bulky devices, for numerous wearable and implantable applications. Soft materials allow for seamless integration with skin and tissues due to enhanced mechanical flexibility and stretchability. Wearable devices, such as sensors, offer continuous, real-time monitoring of biosignals and movements, which can be applied in rehabilitation and diagnostics, among other applications. Soft implantable electronics offer similar functionalities, but with improved compatibility with human tissues. Biodegradable soft implantable electronics are also being developed for transient monitoring, such as in the weeks following surgery. To further advance soft electronics, materials, integration strategies, and fabrication techniques are being developed. This paper reviews recent progress in these areas, toward the development of soft material-enabled electronics for medicine, healthcare, and human-machine interfaces.

Pemphigus and pemphigoid diseases are a heterogenous group of autoimmune blistering disorders (AIBD) characterized by tissue-bound and circulating autoantibodies against structural proteins of the desmosome and basement membrane zone of the skin and orifice-close mucosal tissues. While strong evidence has been provided that autoantibodies in AIBD are pathogenic, the exact mechanisms of how blister formation is mediated is very different between pemphigus and pemphigoid disorders and yet incompletely understood.
