Radically Inclusive Teaching with Newcomer and Emergent Plurilingual Students

"Learn how to enact curricular, pedagogical, and policy shifts that nourish students' linguistic repertoires. Drawing on their experience working with educators and students in grades 7-12, the authors challenge readers to transform their approach to languaging, agency, and authority in the classroom. Strategies come alive through classroom vignettes and examples of student work"--

A fascinating collection of fiction-turned-reality tales. Long before movies like Minority Report and The Matrix, the world’s writers have been recording the future as it might exist—and as it turns out, they were right. This bizarre anthology collects the most stunning predictions and imagined inventions here for the first time. Visions of Tomorrow includes “The Land Iron Clads” by H. G. Wells, who described a military tank in 1903—long before it was ever a possibility; “The Yesterday House” by Fritz Leiber, who writes about cloned humans; “Reason” by Isaac Asimov, who predicted solar power could be harnessed by satellites; and many more. In this stunning anthology of never-before-collected stories, our world’s greatest science fiction writers demonstrate that the truth can be just as strange as fiction.

The Report: Peru 2017

Over the last decade Peru has consistently been the fastest-growing economy in Latin America, and unlike some of its neighbours, has been remarkably resilient to global headwinds, registering positive growth rates for an uninterrupted 18 years through to 2016. While the pace of growth has slowed as the long commodities boom ebbed after 2012, Peru recorded an average annual growth rate of 5.9% in 2005-15, almost double the 3% rate for Latin America as a whole. Stakeholders and investors will now be looking to efforts by the new government, which took office in July 2016, to address problems, implement additional reforms and spur further economic growth.

The applications vary and range from digital signal processing to image, video and multimedia signal processing, also including object classification, learning mechanism design and data security. Recent advances in numerical, theoretical and experimental methodologies are presented within the scope of the current book, along with the finding of new learning methods and new methodological developments and their limitations. This book brings together a collection of inter-/multidisciplinary works applied to many classification and data security applications in a coherent manner.

The publication of the ESCT (European Society for Catholic Theology) with the title “Synodality in Europe” reflects on the synodal process in Europe and challenges of theological work in view of the learning process to become a “synodal church”. The different articles lay theological foundations of synodality, they present regional and world church perspectives, they show tensions and processes of pluralisation which are understood as a “laboratory” of synodality related to the liberating and healing Gospel of Jesus Christ. Most of the authors are members of different sections of ESCT (in Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain). Integrated are also a protestant and two world-church contributions.
