A Handbook of Translation Studies

Like Criticism, Translation Is Always A Text About A Text And Hence It Is A Metatext. We Translate By Intuition. There Is No Science Of Translating Though There Are Scientific Theories Of Translation. In This Book, The Author Has Made A Thorough Analysis Of Various Aspects Of Translation Studies Both In The East And The West. Apart From Making A Background Study Of Translation, He Has Analysed Translation As Creative Writing, As Linguistic Bridge-Building And As Nation Building. The Author Has Devoted A Chapter Each To The Important Subjects: Theory And Practice Of Translation: The Indian Context, Comparative Literature And Translation Studies: A Correlation, The Role Of The Translator, A Critique Of Translation Theories And Above All, The Place Of Translation In The Twenty-First Century In The Global Context. This Is An Incisive And Well Researched Book On Translation Studies In Our Country.

Targeting Epigenetics in Inflammatory Lung Diseases

This book discusses the role of epigenetics in pathogenesis of different pulmonary diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary infections. It also explores post-translational modifications in DNA and histones for improving the understanding of lung diseases. This book helps in understanding the epigenetic mechanisms towards the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Further, the book provides insight into the underlying molecular mechanisms involved in the epigenetic regulation of inflammation, which may have novel implications in designing small molecule inhibitors that target the epigenetic machinery for the effective treatment of a variety of inflammation‐related diseases. This book is a valuable resource for academics, research and industry professionals working in respiratory biology.

Advanced Drug Delivery Systems in the Management of Cancer discusses recent developments in nanomedicine and nano-based drug delivery systems used in the treatment of cancers affecting the blood, lungs, brain, and kidneys. The research presented in this book includes international collaborations in the area of novel drug delivery for the treatment of cancer. Cancer therapy remains one of the greatest challenges in modern medicine, as successful treatment requires the elimination of malignant cells that are closely related to normal cells within the body. Advanced drug delivery systems are carriers for a wide range of pharmacotherapies used in many applications, including cancer treatment. Th...

Role of Oxidative Stress in Pathophysiology of Diseases

This book illustrates the importance and significance of oxidative stress in the pathophysiology of various human diseases. The book initially introduces the phenomenon of oxidative stress, basic chemical characteristics of the species involved and summarizes the cellular oxidant and anti-oxidant system and the cellular effects and metabolism of the oxidative stress. In addition, it reviews the current understanding of the potential impact of oxidative stress on telomere shortening, aging, and age-related diseases. It also examines the role of oxidative stress in chronic diseases, including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders. Further, the book presents novel technologies for the detection of oxidative stress biomarkers using nanostructure biosensors, as well as in vitro and in vivo models to monitor oxidative stress. Lastly, the book addresses the drug delivery carriers that can help in combating oxidative stress.

Cilappatikāram, the epic of the anklet is the first known epic of the Tamils, and the first of the five great epics is the quintessential work of the Tamil mind and culture representing the final phase of the classical age in Tamil poetry. Whereas Tolkāppiyam does not mention Kāppiyam, Taṇṭiyalaṅkāram is based on the Sanskrit Kavya tradition and even though T.P. Meenakshisundaran has called it the epic of the common man, he also tries to relate Cilappatikāram to the theory of Taṇṭiyalaṅkāram particularly the four Purushartas of the Kāvya tradition. We can see the marvel of the story of the common people becoming an epic only in Tamil. Eminent Jains and others have said tha...
